WATCH: Nationals turn historic triple play against the Giants

It seems 2016 is turning into the Year of the Triple Play. The Nationals were the latest team to accomplish the rare(ish) feat when they got three outs at onceFriday night against the Giants in San Francisco. It was the fifth triple play in the majors this season.Though triple plays are always cool, no matter how they come, this one Tyler Flowers Jersey was part heads-up play, part bad baserunning.MORE: That time a team turned a triple play without touching the ball With the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, the Tom Glavine Jersey Giants’ Brandon Crawford smacked a low liner toward Washington first baseman Ryan Zimmerman, who caught it inches off the ground for the first out, then quickly doubled offBuster Posey at first base for the second out, then threw to third base to force Denard Span, who apparently didn’t realize Crawford’s liner had been caught on the fly, for the third out. It was the Nats’ first triple play since moving to Washington and the first 3-3-5 triple play in MLB history. The Nationals celebrated appropriately, of course, but they’ve got a long way to go to catch the White Sox, who’ve turned three triple plays so far this season (four if you count one Dale Murphy Jersey they turned in spring training). Also in the Triple Play Club this season are the Brewers, who turned one against the Marlins in April.
